can't connect to my wireless printer

For the love of pete, help me before I shoot myself 😀

Brother laser printer MFC-7860dw. I went through the wireless setup and got it connected to my router. The reason I'm thinking it's connected is because I can see it on my router status page and the printer say it's connected ok. But I can not add it to my PC. I've tried having my pc scan for it, I've tried adding it via IP address, I've tried pinging it, I've tried bringing up the ip address in my browser, nothing.

I feel like I'm missing a critical step here.

Perhaps the most critical question would be what address range is being assigned to your PC? I'm presuming that it's 10.0.0.x but perhaps the printer was setup with a static IP. Have you tried using the BRAdmin tool that came with the printer?

Did you add the printer in your PC as a network printer? That's what it is if connected to a router.

Is the WLAN Enable set to ON in the printer? Printout the IP address of the printer and when you install the driver, specify to connect 'wireless".
Enter the IP address manually for it to detect the printer.

I did try adding it as a network printer. I also did try using the Brother software. I was able to printout the status sheet and it showed that it was connected but I still couldn't connect to the printer. I then rebooted my router and voila, it worked.

AHH, the old router reboot! Don't feel bad. Despite what some would say, I always shutdown and restart after a new install of software etc. Glad, it works.😉
