can't connect to internet via wifi

I have Sony Vaio PCG-3A4L laptop. Vista Home Premium (32 bit I think).

The problem is can't connect to the internet. The built-in wifi card (Intel 4965 AGN) could detect wifi connections and able to connect. However, it only has local connection and can't connect to the Internet. At the bottom right hand corner, it will say "currently connected to: unidentified network (name of network). When I go into Network and Sharing Center, Access is Local only. The wifi connection is not the culprit b/c I can use other computers to connect to it.

I've updated the drivers to the wifi card and disable IPv6 but nothing works. Please help

Also, computer also has a Wireless Device Switch. I have not idea what it does b/c it is actually my friend's computer.

thx.
