Cant connect to a computer on the network

I have a computer that I cant connect to on the network.

I can connect to the other 9 computers, no problem.
That computer can connect to me no problem.
I can connect to that computer from "some" other computers no problem. SOme other computers have the same problem as I do, they can connect to all other computers, including mine, but not this particular one.

What would cause this? Why would some connect, and others not? We are all in the same workgroup and subnet and can access the same network shares.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the network settings on that computer. The firewall is off. File and print sharing is on. The C drive and other specific folders are shared. All the settings are the same as all the other computers.

I even went so far as deleting all references of that computer on mine that were under my network places and I had a mapped drive to it, I deleted them all. I renamed the connection name on the other computer, and when I went to view that computer through mine, the name had changed on the view workgroup computers. It is reading that the name changed, but not allowing me access. It allows others access.

Is it my computer that has a problem with that one, or that one has a problem with mine?

I cant ping it, but if I update the name of it, it shows up on my computer. The error I get says "it is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. . . . . The network path was not found."

Any help would be appreciated.

access the computer.....

how, access it's web server, ping the machine, access file shares?

I'll assume file sharing. Use UNC paths, not network craphood. \\computername\share or \\computerip\share

Access thru "view workgroup computers".

I usually will then make a shortcut to the shared directory. In this case, I cant even access the computer to make the shortcut to the directory.

If I type in the IP address, it wont connect.
If I try to type in the path, it wont connect.

Yes, file sharing is on. Folders are shared.

works from some computers, not all of them.

I was thinking that there is some problem with the IP address range in each computer.
Can some computers access this computer directly from the workgroup ?
Definitely check the IP range validity on each computer or better yet switch the current IP address on that computer to another computer and see if you can access it.

There is a static and a dynamic range. All the computers are set up sequentially in the static range. This one is in between other computers, and all other computer work fine. Also, I tried changing it to dynamic, and also to another non-used static, and neither worked.

Some computers CAN access directly from the workgroup list of computers, most cant tho. All computers, even the one I cant connect to can connect to me.

I tried renaming the computer, and renamed the user name. Nothing worked.

I tried to remove all networking. I removed file sharing and windows logon, but the tcp/ip does not allow me to uninstall it. I even installed the new tcp/ip V6, but it is running with the old tcp/ip and it doesnt have any configuration for it. Didn't help. I reinstalled the above, and removed all the shared folders, and reran network setup wizard. Nothing helped.

The key I think is that some computers can connect to it. I dont understand how or why. If this can be figured out, it will solve the problem.
