Can't Configure Yahoo Mail for Windows Mail

I'm trying to set configure a Yahoo mail account to work with Windows Mail. Seems straightforward enough. Yet no matter what I try, each time I try and access the Yahoo account I am prompted for my password. Then, no matter how many times I type in the correct password, I am asked again and again.
My Gmail account works fine with Windows mail. Any ideas why Yahoo is being so difficult?
Thank you.

Yahoo disabled POP3 for free accounts. You can perhaps get around this by running a program called YPOPs (not a recommendation, just something I stumbled across via Google).

After I posted I read that Yahoo requires an upgrade to Yahoo Plus for a POP3 account.
Wow. I'm surprised in this day and age that they would go that route with so many free and very good email programs available. I mean, do they really need another $20 from me?

It has been like that on Yahoo Mail (non paid) for about 2 years now. Just like you can not place a Picture directly in an email, so that the recipient sees it without needing to download it. You can with most other mail services.
