Cant check 1and1.com email through email client.

I have my own domain and I have hosting through 1and1.com. I've set up my email accounts and I'm trying to access them through Outlook Express or Mozilla Thunderbird but it just wont connect. I'm using 1and1.com as the incoming and outgoing POP3 server. Is this the wrong server to use? Any help would be appreciated..
