Can't change email!

I searched and read a previous post about how a user couldn't change his email. Someone who replied said AOL, hotmail, yahoo,etc were all blocked. I understand this, but I want to change mine to gmail. Is gmail blocked too? I want to change it because I wont have my college email anymore (i graduated) so I want to switch.

So what emails do you guys use? work? cable/dsl?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Most of the free, webmail-based providers like Hotmail or Yahoo are banned. While I've not heard anything yet about Gmail being banned, I'm sure it will be handled the same way.

Basically....Free = Banned

Most of use use the email given by our ISP, while others use the email associated with their own domains.

Free != blocked

Contaminated with a crapload of spammers == blocked

It's hard to find a good freemail service, but they do exist.

BTW, I hope they don't block _all_ freemail services, since they can be a lifesaver at times... Some time ago my ISP was having major mail server issues (they were bouncing "spam" - but their worthless POS spam "filter" didn't catch much spam and rejected over half of my valid mail, including AnandTech stuff). Anyway, the mods were very upset that (evidently) I must have been filling their mailbox with bounce notifications, and I would have been banned if it hadn't have been for a free mail service that didn't suck, which I used until recently when my ISP finally got wise enough to let us turn off their fscking horrible spam "filter" (before that there was no option to turn the dasm thing off, and I didn't have any other local ISP options aside from AOL). :|

Anyway, I say that just to request to any mod or admin who may read this, that some of the more obscure but not-so-crappy free email services should be left alone, because there are some people who really have a valid need for such a thing to use here, if they are willing to put forth a bit of research to find one that isn't blocked.
