I unzipped memtest86.iso and burned it to CD using Nero Express but it is not being recognized upon bootup. Unless I did something wrong shouldn't you be able to unzip the file and just burn it to CD for it to work? Any help is appreciated. Thanx

You don't uncompress the ISO. You burn the ISO as an image file. In NERO, select File > Open and then change the file type list to *.ISO. Then burn the image.

don't worry.... it's an easy mistake to make! :D

when I first downloaded it I did the same thing, i unzipped it, then was like 'where is the ISO' - DUH!!!

just go into nero, and select burn from image from one of the menu drop downs..

Didn't work. Is it supposed to be the only thing on the disk or can there be other programs on it?

rob

your killing me man..

you have to burn it AS AN IMAGE!! it's a TOTALLY separate processor from burning a data cd.

I did that! I just checked the CD and I see the file BOOT! I was wrong, there is nothing else on the CD but the iso file.

The problem is it's not booting off the cd like it should. I even have boot to CD in the BIOS set as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.

Maybe I should have burned it slower like 4x instead of 52x?

OH PISS! I chose the wrong option!

I was supposed to choose CDROM ISO correct? Not Image file .iso*,.nrg*,.cue*, right?

You have to "burn from image", as described repeatedly above. Do NOT just drag the ISO file to the CD; you have to tell it to treat the ISO file (which contains the boot sector, etc.) as a CD image, rather than a normal file.

It works and this was the key! I burned the ISO off of my other pc @ 52x and the new pc didn't recognize it so I slowed the burn down to 4x. Thanx for the help.
