Can't burn CDs

I run Windows XP on my Emachines computer. I have been burning CDs from music on my hard drive without any problems until just yesterday. I tried to burn some songs on Nero and after starting to burn, it quits. I tried the same thing on Music Match, Real. and Windows Media. None will burn them. I lowered the speed from 48 to 24x, but this didn't help. At Music Match, I get a message that "the drive has reported a hardware failure and that it may be a bad disk. I have tried all of my burners without success. The drive plays CDs and DVDs with no problem. Could someone help me find whats going on? Thanks in advance.

I have been using Memorex disks for years and never any problem. I am trying to burn music from my hard drive to disk.
