i just bought a 16x10x40 Cendyne burner in the recent officemax deal. however when i try to burn any cd, i keep getting the following errors at some point during the burn (usually at the beginning or end):

"power calibration error"
"trackwriter error"
"could not endtrack"
...plus somethign else that had to do with "fixation error"

nothing i try works, master/slave combination, etc. the burner does not work with either nero or ezcd creator. it doesnt even work with the ghetto software it came with!!!

just wondering if anyone had this problem too and could provide some insight...really frustrated with this burner.

2 other notes. 1, it works fine with clonecd. 2, when i opened the box i noticed the burner was a 16x12x40 accesstek brand and the nero burning rom pictuer on the box was covered by a nti (ghetto burning software) sticker. i assumed that the drive was a rebadged something.

please reply to this thread or PM me if i should be more specific... thanks guys... your help is appreciated...dunno what else to do...

edit: on the rare times it does finish burning, it cant read the cd afterwards

i have almost the same problem wih philips pcrw1208, when i burn audio cd with nero it gave me "could not calibrate" and "could not end track" and sometime "bad write state" but i think the problem is with the blank cd i use(samsung 80mins made by ritek) because with other disc it work's good. my writer and probably your's use power calibration for the laser beam.
so my advice is try other blank media and use slower speed.

i agreed with xcrash that it is problem with the speed of cd-r media that are in used.

On different occasions, I used the a slower cd-r (16x) in a 20x drive for burning, after wasting a few disc, I finally found out.

It could be if you are disc-copying, some software may allow u to select more than the cd-r media can hold, 710mb into 700mb.

Other possibilities include a broken drive or you have too many drivers for the drive.

hope this helps.
