try looking for the most updated version of nero and/or roxio... they should support your cd burner ...

otherwise, it might not be the software if you can burn at 16x okay ... its your CD-R's ... you have to buy high quality cd-r's that are rated for 32X in order to be able to burn at 32X .. i'm guessing that the cd-r's you're using now are probably rated 16x .. or even they're rated higher, the quality of the cd-r prevents it from being burned at 32x...

Or, if you are trying to burn "on the fly" which means directly from your cd-rem to your burner without going through the HD then you can only burn as fast as your cd rom can feed them to your burner. Getting a faster cd rom or burning to your HD first may be your only alternatives.

As a last resort you might try updating the cdrw's firmware. If it is made by someone else like liteon, sony or something it might do better than it is, but then again it might not.

Will

BTW it might depend on your system. Is your system fast enough to keep the data buffer full when it writes?

DMA is enabled, i'm not burning on the fly... i'm burning from the HDD... and my system is a gig system with 60 gigs HDD and 512 ram.. so i think it's plenty fast to handle the burn..
i'll try getting faster rated cd's and see....
thanks for the help..
