Can't burn a data cd but audio cds works fine

I have a friend that can not burn data cds using nero and her lite on cd writer. It worked before but now it will not work. Now all of a sudden too her boyfriend can not burn a data cd either. I do not know what type of cd writer he has. This sounds like too much of a coincidence. Anyone know what might have caused this and how to fix it. A reinstall of nero did not do the trick. Thanks!!!

Did they share a pack of bad media? What are the specifics of "can't burn"?

Many people have the misconception "its a 52x burner, so I will burn at 52x". If you start at 8x with the same media, then go up until it fails, then you know what the media will really do. I do all mine at 8x, as they seem to last forever without going bad that way.
