Can't bridge tethered Huawei Ascend M860 out of Win 7 laptop

I am using PdaNet to tether my Huawei Ascend M860 to my Lenovo R500 laptop. That internet connection works fine and is labeled in network connections as "PdaNet Modem".

I am trying to bridge that connection out, by way of the LAN ethernet port. The "Bridge Connections" option is not available when both "Local Area Connection" (my laptop's broadcom adapter ethernet port) and the "PdaNet Modem" are highlighted and either is right clicked for pull down menu options.

When just "Local Area Connection" is highlighted and right clicked, the pull down menu option shows, "Bridge Connections" and asked for two LAN or high speed internet connections.

Does Win 7 NOT consider my "PdaNet Modem" a LAN connection? Obviously it is not a high speed connection.

Irregardless is there a way around this so I can used my tethered Huawei for internet and bridge it out by way of my ethernet port?

Thanks pclaptop23hour

Additional Info . . .

Why does windows call this a modem connection? It utilizes a USB port where other internet LAN devices are configured to use as an internet connection source!

Or is this "Modem" classification set by the PdaNet software? There's no "dialup" involved, there's no "modem-negotiations" provided/initiated and there's no "user/password" required. This (It) is a direct internet connection.

Your Huawei is a phone. It is not a direct internet/LAN connection, and is acting as a modem providing Internet access to the computer through the USB port on the computer. As for not being able to bridge the connection, it's possible that the PdaNet program you are using doesn't allow it.

Try using Internet Connection Sharing instead of bridging.

Granted it is a phone, but that is IT when it comes to being a "MODEM" connection!
When you connect the USB cable the internet connection is already there. there's no dialing, there's no negotiating the connection, and no login is required!
Granted i appreciate the comment/reply, and on the surface my huawei IS a phone, but i believe win 7 or pdanet sets it as a "MODEM" type connection!

and thanks jack i'll try your suggestions

thanks to both of you

The phone does the dialing, the negotiating, and the logging in, so it actually is there, whether the computer is doing it or not. The issue appears to be that, whether because of the PdaNet software or the phone itself, Windows is not seeing it as a connection that can be bridged. But you still should be able to enable Internet Connection Sharing with it by following the instructions in Jack's first link.

That is just how PDANet works. It considers it a USB modem. The PDAnet app on the phone and PC communicate as a PPP style connection like your PC is "dialing in" to your phone as an ISP. PDANet hides all this from you as it should though. You can set it to act as a wifi AP instead.

Words that appear on Computers are meaningless to technology per-se.

The programmer of PDANet can call it in the Code "Chumbalaolo Bakuba" instead of Modem, technology wise it would do the same of whatever it is doing.
