Can't boot with both DVI LCD and Sony TV

I have a Gigabyte 8600GT, WinXP SP2, latest nvidia driver. Card has 2x DVI. One of them is going to my Sony TV (XBR4), via DVI->HDMI adapter, the other is going to my Dell 2405. Currently, in my nvidia properties, I have the Dell as primary, Sony as secondary. Its set to Clone.

If the Sony is not on, and both cables are connected - it won't boot. I never see anything on my LCD, but I can hear it go through BIOS, but then just reboots right before getting to the WinXP loading screen.

If I then disconnect the cable to the Sony, it boots fine.

Likewise, if the Sony is actually on during boot, it boots fine, but always loads up the Sony as primary, and not cloning to the Dell.

I've tried swapping the primary/secondary, same problem.

The thing is - there are going to be times when I want to use my computer without ever touching the Sony. Right now, the only way to do that, is manually connect the cable to the Sony every time I want to watch on both and disconnect it before rebooting.

What gives?

Naw, I have a similar thing, though it is slightly different. My Vista PC is connected to a 22" Envison LCD. When I have it connected via VGA cable, the computer will boot fine. When I have it connected via DVI cable, the computer won't even boot. It must be some sort of grounding thing. I don't know. Anyone here with any ideas?
