What do you mean you can't? Did you pree F8? Does your keyboard have a F Lock that you need to press F Lock before function button works?

I press f8 and it goes into the screen of choices. I press safe mode and it starts to boot into safe mode but then jumps back into the screen of choices again. Win xp pro.

Man am I stupid. I listened to the advice of someone to do it through msconfig and check the box. Now all it does is go around in circles and I can't get back in to uncheck the dang box. What can I do to get back in??? Why won't it let me go into safe mode??

The bigger question is, what prompted you to want to go into safe mode in the first place???

Having problems??

I had the same problem as you but I could boot to safemode wiyh networking so I thought I would take the same advice and go through msconfig and if I encoutered a problem I had safemode with networking as an out ,but when I made the change in msconfig I was unable to boot into any mode.hence I had to reinstall my op because I could not get to Windows like you now can't. Total bummer.

Before you reinstall try some data recovery tools as Knoppix and/or BartsPE or Windows PE (UX). A google search should define some of those for you.

I did a reinstall ahhhhh and then reinstalled all software. I found out it was a software issue. Nero (InCD4) was the culprit. I had to spend a lot of time finding it but that is what caused it. I don't know why but it did. I uninstalled it and safe mode worked. I reinstalled and safe mode quit. I uninstalled and now safe mode works again. HMMMM> I don't have Nero any longer.

Thank you for posting your solution! Uninstalling InCD helped me fix the same problem.

InCD not reading the INCD 's I created using the program is the reason I no longer install it. It lost me my second job contact list as it said the CD-RW was bad after saving a update to it causing me to loose all information on it. Never again for me.
