Cant boot into anything

in the process of trying to dual boot gentoo and windows.

i have win2k on primary hdd and it always used to boot into it.
i tried to setup a dual boot with GRUB on the MBR of the primary hdd. i boot up the pc and it wont boot into anything. just sits there

i tried to rewrite the MBR with grub boot disk... no good

i tried to use a 98 boot disk and fdisk /mbr to try to get windows back -- nope
now my system wont boot into anything and im getting really nervous. please help if you can

If your win2k cd is bootable, try that or the boot disks for win2k, and try a repair.
