CAn't boot from USB flash drive...but I just did a couple hours ago!

Long story short.

Installed Windows 7 Ultimate x86 today on my HTPC from a USB flash drive.

One of my hard drives failed so I decided to boot into Ubuntu from the same USB flash drive to see if I could transfer files in Linux (doing so in Windows causes the system to become unresponsive).

I of course formatted the USB drive before hand and Ive booted into Ubuntu before on the same PC using the same flash drive. I use that automated program, so I know I have not messed up this process.

Now, for some reason, my USB drive is not being recognized as a boot option in the BIOS...like, AT ALL. EVEN THOUGH it just did a few hours ago no problem.

So wtf gives? USB port is fine, flash drive is fine, computer is fine...nothing has changed since installing Windows a few hours ago...its like one minute it worked 100% next minute it does not work AT ALL.

Anyone know what might be going on here??? Ive heard it might be Windows drivers from looking online...but Windows and its driver have ZERO effect on the BIOS...

Can you save your BIOS settings, than reset them to the default. If the USB option comes back, you need to find what's different between the default settings and the ones you saved.

Also, try posting both with and without the USB plugged in. I don't know what difference that would make, but it's worth a shot.
