Question Cant boot from M.2 SSD

I recently purchased a SATA M.2 SSD(Not NVMe) and used Macrium Reflect 7 to clone my boot drive to it from the slower 2.5" SSD I was using before.

No matter how many times I change the option in BIOS to boot from that M.2, the setting doesn't stay and the system keeps booting from the original 2.5". Even if I press F8 during boot, and explicitly select the M.2, even though windows seems to boot from it, if I go to disk management and try to wipe my 2.5", while in Windows, Windows says drive is in use! What gives? Any way I can fix this?

PS: Certainly this Mobo does support booting from M.2 SSD, it's a very recent mobo with support for all the latest bells and whistles. (in my sig)

Thanks!

remove it completely as a boot option and/or physically from the system temporarily until you can get it booted up
