I can't boot from cd on my abit bm6. I have a bootale winxp pro which i picked up yesterday i can't boot from it though. I changed the settings in the bios but nothing. my cd drive is connected to the secondary ide controller on the mobo. Any help would be much appreciated

Please post exactly what equipment you are using and exactly what you are doing and exactly what the system is doing. Give us details.

Someone on the board will know whether your exact model of motherboard / BIOS and you are using should work together. And, since you didn't say anything about it, I have to ask you if you say the message on the monitor which tells you to hit a key to boot from the CD -- and, of course, if you are then hitting a key. If, on the other hand, you are getting past that properly but are seeing an error message about which specifies problems with devices or with files, we need to know that, too. Details!

Just checking, but when you say you changed your bios settings, did you make the CD the first boot?

yeah i switched bootup sequence to cdrom first. i have a revision 1.03 abit bm6 with an overclocked celeron in it latest bios.

Are you getting any messages at all about the pc trying to boot from the "atapi" drive? What exactly is happening when you try to boot?
If you are getting the indication that it's trying to boot from the cd but doesn't see the cd as bootable, that's one thing. If it's not booting at all from the cd and completely bypassing it, that's another issue.

As someone here just experienced on another thread, make sure your ide cable is connected to the drive correctly (red striped side of cable to pin 1 on cdrom and motherboard and the drive is jumpered correctly...as master or slave).
