Working on a friend's system, a Gateway Solo Pro 9300. It's a laptop, and is about 3-4 years old.
The HD went bad, and I thought that was the only thing. However, I put a working HD in, and now I can't boot to CD.
I have changed the BIOS settings around to see if I could make it know that I wanted to boot from the CD-ROM first (per someone's suggestion). No go.
I hear the CD-ROM working. It just doesn't boot from CD. And it's a new CD.
I'm guessing it might be the CD-ROM. There's no way it's the mobo, is there?
