Can't Boot from CD?

I format quite frequently because I like to have a fresh computer all the time. Well, since the last time I formatted I've updated my BIOS. My motherboard is an Intel D875PBZ and the BIOS I have installed is version BZ87510A.86A.0106.P27. Tonight I was planning on doing a format and reinstalling Windows but when I stuck the XP CD in and rebooted it just started up Windows again. When I went into the BIOS and tried to change the boot settings so that the CD would be the first on the list I found that I didn't even have the option. Only my harddrives and my floppy drive were options. I find it strange that updating my BIOS would take away a feature like booting from the CD. Does anyone know what I could do to enable CD booting again?

Hi Fuelrock and welcome to the Forums 🙂 I wonder if your mobo just lost sight of the CD-ROM drive altogether, maybe just go into the BIOS and have it re-detect what's on each IDE position? Is the drive functioning in Windows?
