Can't Boot from CD to restore WinXP

My old CPU/MB died, and I just got a 1.6a w/ P4S333, I tried to repair my XP install from the CD like I had seen someone discuss on this forum a few days ago, and a got a BSOD. Now, when I try to boot off the CD again, it loads all the stuff, then says setuup is starting windows, but it just sits there. I hope my Hard drive didn't die too, but why can't I boot off the CD anymore? Is there any way I can just boot to a command prompt so I can just get some of my files off of that drive? Thanks.
