Can't boot CalderaDOS on greater-than-1GB FDD

Hi everyone,

I used to keep a good'ol 1GB FDD with me for BIOS flashing and meddling, but unfortunately it's memory chip seems to have gone the way of William Wallace, and it doesn't even power up anymore. After that, i got a Kingston DT100 of 4GB, and another identical to mine (Sony) of just 2GB, but when i write my bootable image to disk, and i choose boot menu, it doesnt appear, where my old one would perform flawlessly. Is there anything special i must use to make my DOS-derived (not just CalderaDOS, but any such DOS-based OSes) to make it viable? Or is it hardware-dependent? I doubt it is because it even happens in newer mobos.

If anyone can enlighten me on that issue it would be really appreciated.

FDD=Floppy Disk Drive. Never heard of a 1 GB one. Biggest I ever had was 1.4 MB, Sure you are not talking about flash memory, i.e., pen drive or thumb drive? For those, you need USB drivers for DOS.

Actually, AFAIK, that's the older denomination. Nowadays, i think for most people it stands for Flash Disk Drive, which can be anything from thumb drives to infinity, flash memory style.

Hmm...how interesting. Then it means i made it up? Cool. Now back to whats really important: is there someone here that has managed to make a bootable flash disk drive of 4GB or greater with any DOS-derived distribution? I swear i dunno where to start from to get where i want.
