I have DSL where I'm at now.

The local cable company just started offering cable modem access for a little cheaper.

I thought I'd give it a try.

They come out turn it on, etc.

Seems great.

Then I find out they have a 5 gig download limit a month - with each additional gig for 10$ more.

WTFFFFF!

I had that stuff cut off quick. The cableguy was confused why he came right back out and cut it off.

Back to my medium speed unlimited DSL access.

I think I download 10-15 gigs month easy.

Crap, I hope everywhere does not do that - I mean I can eat up a ton just streaming a radio station.

WTF that better only cost $15 a month for that service, and you better be getting breakneck speeds. DAMN!

Well I'll be ok as long as the local DSL service doesn't go away.

I'm in a small town (less than 5000). . .

That is half the problem.

I get a 1.5 down 256 up for 49.95 - which I know sucks - but at least it is unlimited.

Time Warner Road Runner... 6 mb standard rate 49 bucks a month... unlimited leech...

Are you sure it wasn't 5mb/s download speed for $39.99/month and if you wanted say 6mb/s download speed it was $49.99/month?

Ok, let me put it clear.

It cost 39.95 for 3.0 down.
The AUP policy stated: If you use more than 5 gigabytes a month - you will be fined.

I called and verified it.

Whats worse was their light plan was like 512 down - and you could not use more than 1 gig a month and get fined.

Crickies!

That and the east coast is much more wired than the rural south - even in the small towns.
