I went to Carmax yesturday to get my car appraised (very good service btw) and I saw a 2004 Crossfire manual with only 2K miles in the odometer for 23-24K!! The car had a sold sign already. Don't they have like an MSRP of 35K?? Anyways....the car is tiny as hell. Very uncomfortable. I'm 6'2'' 200lbs

Don't worry...you'll spend another $10k at least on it right after your warranty runs out. Chrysler has been cutting corners like crazy lately. I'm surprised more of their cars don't spontaniously combust on the freeway or have their tires fall off or something.

I blame it on 95% rushed engineering and lack of testing.....5% poor materials. They could do so much better.

hmmm...the sign clearly said "kbb price is 30K. Carmax no haggle price is 7K below that!!"
The Crossfire is basically the old MB SLK and I think they are made in Europe too. Cheapest way to get into a MB for those who fit inside :)

I assume you have evidence to backup that claim, or is it just another "well, my friend's car..." kinda thing?

Check EBAY for pricing. These cars, especially with a Manual Trans are impossible to sell.

I read that Chrysler has an 8-month inventory of Crossfires already. They are not selling well. They are a goregous car and are made in Germany and shipped over.

The 220HP 3.2L engine is fantastic.

I own a Crossfire, so I can say first hand his claim is inaccurate.

They aren't selling cause they're slower than dog crap. The engine in that car is patently offensive. It may be smooth...or whatever...but put the car next to a 350z and its ass will get smacked around. I think they are among the best looking cars to come out in recent years, but all show no go.

hAhahAHa, what a joke.

You've owned it for how long? Or were you expecting the problems to come up in the first 2 months? Its only been on the market maybe 6-7, so.....

Regardless, he does have a point. MB has always been junk though, they never made the greatest cars in the world, and now neither does Crystler. Not like they did either though. American's just don't care, they buy a car and drive it for 2-3 years, and sell it. So it doesn't matter that it won't last for the next person who buys it, and that it costs WAYYY more to fix then most Japanese cars. Audi, BMW, MB, this is true for all of the above. My friend needed a new upper control arm for his Audi, $1200 installed. For my friends Civic? $100, and we installed it ourselves in less then 2 hours. Hmmm.

Wow, you really are stupid. Let me guess, the Audi part was form the dealer and was their installed price, while yours was some Autozone remanned special, right? I don't think I have ever heard someone claim that domestics cost more to do regular repairs.

I love the Crossfire.

I'd buy one if I had the money. :)

Tried to get my buddy to buy one, but he went Accord. :|

Yeah the car looks pretty good. The car is very small though. Not good as the primary car.

Who is talking about Domestics? I guess I'm the one who is stupid then, when you think a German car is domestic?? And the Crystler isn't domestic either, its now Daimler Crystler, and trust me every part on the Crossfire is German engineered.

Which means that its awesome on the High way, but it also means that it breaks easier and will cost more to fix.

I could care less if you believe me or not, the fact is that I know 5 mechanics who all work at the same VW/Audi dealership, and I know what I'm talking about when it comes to german cars and the cost to fix them.

Oh and BTW, try doing the upper control arm on a newer Audi yourself. You can't . They engineer them so you HAVE TO go to the dealership to get it done, and they do it on purpose. Even the people that WORK ON the Audi's/VW's have to take it into the shop to work on them because you need all kinds of specific tools. Even if you could do it youself, and had the tools, it would take 4x the time. That is the difference, you have to go to the dealership, or to a certified mechanic for the german car who ALL charge outrageous fee's. And tis not even like they're ripping you off, they have to charge you so much because the work is just so hard to do.

But this is just for me, and all the Audi's/VW's I hear horror stories about. I don't have near as many horror stories about Benz's. But I have quite a few.

Why?

I don't have kids. I just need room for me and the woman.

Yea, I'm the moron who thinks the Crystler Crossfire is domestic?? Hahaha. Whatever, this board and its members have proved to me over and over that most of you know very little about cars.

Just so you know, everything on the Crossfire is german engineered. Or you could just say, is German. And are Benz's parts, not Crystler.
