Can't be in same lobby as friend

Hello guys, me and several friends went out and got Age of Empires 3. In the multiplayer mode, i can join everyone, but one friend. Him and i cannot be in the same lobby as eachother, no matter the host. We have opened ports, tried with/without upnp, tried disabling firewalls, still it doesnt work. Even tried on a different network, with the same outcome. Thanks
