Can't adjust contrast on Samsung 930B?

Is it only me that cannot adjust the contrast on the Samsung 930B? When using either the buttons on the monitor or Magic Tune, selecting the adjust Contrast option results in "Not Available," which seems pretty odd.

On a related note, I picked up the monitor last Saturday and have been tweaking the display settings but haven't been able to find a mix of color, brightness, etc. Any suggested settings?

I got to a point where it looked mostly pretty good, using the "Game" Magic Bright setting and adjusting the color using the Natural Color software that came with it. But one big problem is a light shade of yellow, such as the shade used to highlight new message rows in Hotmail. Instead of the light yellow, they appear virtually white, making it difficult to distinguish between read/unread. Drives my wife crazy (trying to get her to use Gmail but she's stubborn). Suggestions?
 
Contrast control isn't availible when using MagicColor. Question for you, do you notice that the top half of the screen is darker than the bottom half? Hows the backlight bleeding, create a black image and fullscreen it so the screen is entirely black.

Yeah, the top half of my screen is also slightly darker than the bottom. Tilting the monitor back farther isn't even an option because tilting it back screws up the viewing angle, making the top that much darker. I haven't paid attention to backlight bleeding but I'll give that a look when I get home.

I'll try bagging the Magic Tune and see how things go as far as getting things set to display acceptably. Being able to manually adjust contrast might help.

Any suggestions in your experience so far as far as settings go?

 
Just don't use magic color. It's like nvidia's color vibrancy feature on crack. I have my brightness and contrast set to 70/70. Its a good balance. less than 70 and it's too dim, more than 70 and it's washed out. The backlight problem and top half being darker are the only things I see wrong with the monitor. I'm hoping the Viewsonic VX924 will have no backlight problems. The VX910 was an excellent 16ms LCD.
 
You might want to try WiziWYG to create a color profile. It uses a wizard to step you through the process of adjusting contrast, brightness and colors, then has you choose an overall picture that is pleasing to you. You save the profile and set it as the default. I used it on my 19" Acer LCD and it set everything to near perfection, although I already had a very good picture. Give it a try; you can DL it HERE.
 
Thanks for the WiziWYG recommendation cockeyed. Worked very well. Colors look great now and my wife is happier (well, so am I).
