Can't add movies to Kodi after restoring from backup

I was using the Backup app in Kodi to restore my Kodi backup. After doing that I can't add movies to my movie library in Kodi. Updating the movie library has no affect in seeing new movies that I ripped to my hard drive. If I do reinstall Kodi without restoring from a backup of my Kodi configuration it will then see all my movies in my library once I set my movie library up to check for content. Reason why I want to restore from a backup is because of movie posters I changed and movie titles I made changes to. What is the problem here of why Kodi won't see the new movies since the last backup of Kodi even when they are on my hard drive?
