Can't add custom resolutions with Forceware 93.71

So I found some WS configs from WSGF for RB6 Vegas. I guess they work properly according to the WSGF screenshots, and have Hor+ which is best.

Since I run 1024x768 right now, I figured 960x600 or 1280x800 would be best bets (both 16:10). I now on my old computer to use 1280x800 in BF2, I would need to add that resolution using the Custom Resolution Add in the Nvidia Control Panel before launching the game with that resolution.

But now, when I try to add custom resolutions

960x600, 32bit, 60Hz and/or
1280x800, 32bit, 60Hz,

it simply says "resolution cannot be added".

They ARE valid 16:10 resolutions, and I need to be able to add custom ones in order to run games at specified resolutions that are not currently in the list. It's worked in the past...

Any ideas?

This haven't worked for a while now (meaning few last driver releases)... but it works on windows 2000, I think.

No way I could ever run it at 1680x1050. I'd think only slightly above 1024x768 (currently) it would run ok at, and thats with a fair number of graphic settings turned down.

Guess I'll have to use Powerstrip or something.

Damn I hate these new Nvidia drivers. Didn't fix my RB6 Vegas annoying black splotches, bug where the memory frequency in Clock Frequency wigs out (seems to double the effective clk so my effective mem freq is 4x the real one, instead of 2x), and now a known bug that custom resolutions "cannot be added". Way to go. Guess they were too busy with Vista drivers.

And then it was the 84.xx or one slightly older, where it would give you that SLI message every bootup as well as leave the icon in the system tray even if you selected not to. Not big issues then like the new ones, but damn, way rather they'd not have these bugs and not waste time on their new, improved Control Panel, which is junk, worst CP evar (well some of Creative's old ones took the crown for that, but worst 2006 one :)).

I've had the same problem, but I think I've managed to find a way around it.

First, go the the Advanced Timing and change both Back-End Actives and Front-End Actives to the resolution you want to add. Then go to the Add resolution button. You should be able to add the resolution. You can then change the timings back to normal.

That sometimes is enough, but sometimes a few more steps have to be taken after.

First, you may have to uncheck Hide Resolutions This Monitor Does Not Support. Then set your monitor to that resolution. If it doesn't look right then go to the Advanced Timings again with your monitor set to the new resolution. You'll notice that one of the Back-End or Front-End actives is set to the wrong number of pixels. Just type in the right number and everything should be fine. From that point on, the resolution should show up even when the Hide Resolutions check box is filled and will work properly.
