can't add commands to autoexec.bat in win ME

hi, i am running windows me and i am trying to add a line on the autoexec.bat file. however, every time i restart windows, it will clean up everything that i have added to the file. is there any way that i can prevent that?

I dont think winME uses autoexec for anything so it probably uses a default.

The only thing ME allows me to have in the autoexec.bat file are SET commands. Anything else will get wiped out when rebooting or restarting the computer. ME really does not use the autoexec.bat file anymore. Can't do much with the Config.sys file either. Mine is always zero bytes.
