can't access windows servers locally

I'm running Windows Home Server CTP and Longhorn Server Beta 3, but my question should concern any copy of widows server 2003.

When I try to access the server (with keyboard and mouse), the screen remains dark, it can only be fixed by restarting the pc with the power button, what's wrong?

how long does it 'work' once its rebooted?

more details needed, including the PC specs..we cant read your mind
