Can't access static IP assigned by comcast from internet

Hi,
I am helping out a friend of mine that has Comcast business class internet with a static ip address. I setup the comcast modem/router which is a Netgear CG3000DCR gateway to allow a passthrough mode whereby the DHCP and firewall are disabled. The gateway is connected to a Linksys E2500 router which handles all of routing. I am having trouble accessing the networked DVR outside the network, over the internet. The DVR along with all other computers are connected to the Linksys router. I setup a free DDNS service so that we could access the DVR by using a domain and opened the correct ports in the Linkysis router to view the live stream but I still can't connect to it. I called comacst and the CSR told me he couldn't ping the Static WAN IP that was assigned to the Linkysis router. He said it's probably a setting in the router that's preventing the IP from being seen from the internet. I checked all the settings on the Linksys router and couldn't find anything that appeared to be blocking the access to the DVR. I even used DMZ to the IP that was assigned to the DVR and it still didn't work. We have a similar setup to the picture shown below. I can access the DVR from the local network but as soon as I try from the internet it doesn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions on what's causing the issue were facing? Thanks for your time.

I used the guide to configure the network.

The fact that your WAN ip isn't pingable by comcast rep isn't too surprising, a lot of routers have ping requests disabled.

is the dvr properly configured with a default gateway, ip, and subnet settings?

Ah, I agree. Yes, it is as far as I'm concerned. I used the DHCP option in the DVR and it gave it an address of 192.168.1.118 and everything looked correct. I can access the DVR on the network just fine.

Make sure that the dvr not only has an ip but also a default gateway.
Make sure that your isp is not blocking ports.
Did you forward both TCP and udp?

If TCP is used by the appication, you can use telnet to the port to check your port forwarding. Last resort = hub + wireshark to troubleshoot

Yeah I forwarded both TCP and UDP. I'm not sure about the ISP blocking the ports though.

Ahh, okay I will try that, I never used wireshark before but I will try it out on my home network.

Thanks! I will let you know what happens. :)

I got it working! I just had to use a different IP cam viewer, the one I was using didn't work. I logged in on an internet browser and it worked then I decided to try a different viewer on Android and found that IP Cam Viewer worked. lol Thanks guys!
