Can't access some files and folders suddenly

I upgraded my HDD so I partitioned it into C and D and moved all the movie files from the old one to D drive.
Then I reinstalled win xp pro. in C and then I was organizing D drive making subfolders and sorted movie files.
I installed several programs and suddenly I have no access to any of the files for sub folders in D. pop message says I have no access to it.
What can I do to recover all the files?
This never happened to me and I don't know where to start.
