I recently got a new hard drive because my old one up and died on me. I can't get WinXP Pro to boot off the old one, I encounter error after error. So I went to get a new hard drive, hooked it up, got it running. I hooked my old hd up as the secondary, and my new one as the primary. Now I'm trying to get the files off my old one, I can read the hd, but I can not access a folder on it, since it was password protected. The old directory was C:\Documents and Settings\User. I can get access to inside the User folder, but then I can't get access to any subdirectory in that folder. If anyone knows how to get by this password protected folder it does not give me the option of entering the password it just say access is denied, I would be a very happy man. All help would be great. Thanks.

This is actually for a friend so I don't know exactly what is going on. I thought the exact thing you just said but... when I right click on a file or directory there is only a general, sharing and a customize tab. so I click on the sharing tab and there is nothing about advanced at all and there is no owner ship or anything like that. I recall this from using Win 2K alot and using this feature but I don't see it any where in XP... or am I wrong? I bet im just looking in the right place anyone know? thanks
