cant access notebook BIOS

I'm trying to access the BIOS on a Samsung Notebook and I get a Media failure error (Cable not connected) that then reverts to launching the computer into windows. The computer has been dropped a couple times. Is something broken that could preclude me from getting into the BIOS. I want to adjust the boot sequence for drives.

Thanks

Does you laptop access with the F2 key? Have you successfully entered the BIOS before? Cable not connected at boot reminds me of an issue I have seen where the boot from lan is above the hard drive in the boot sequence. If this is the case, you may not be hitting the key soon enough in the boot process. Make sure you shut the laptop down completely, and start repeatedly hitting the F2 key as soon as you power it back on.

Actually on this unit. it seems to be f12 I have never been in the BIOS on this unit. The screen includes the initial header that the BIOS are launching, then it freezes, gives an error message and reverts to Windows. I'll try F2 or del to see what other key might work

That's what I do. Sometimes it is a guessing game. Since I don't know your model, I just gave you the F2, as some Samsung models use that. Yours could very well be different.
