Cant access my external hhd

Hi , recently i just connected my external 2.5 inch Hhd , using its stock usb Y cable. In my computer it showed localdisk f, but when i opened it , a progress bar at top started which never stopped . No window opened when i clicked properties , format, scan , disk management etc but these all windows opens up as soon i unplug the hhd. I also tried removing the case . Indicator blinks and hhd makes a bit sound as usual .also i tried on my laptop .

Its a possible enclosure issue. I would suggest you to try removing the drive from the enclosure and connect it directly to the SATA/IDE port of your PC and find out what response will you get from there.

Yeah i removed case and connected sata and 4 pin connectors.

Is the sound sort of a faint "grrrbeep" every second or so?

Not hearable ... Makes a 'purr' sound as ejected.
