Can't access my dang router

I was messing around with my wireless router last week and I think I might have a assigned it a new address before getting distracted and moving on to something else. Now I'm trying to access it and I get nothing but a network timeout. I've tried the default addresses and my gateway to no avail.
So how the heck do I access my router?
Btw the reset button is broken so that won't work.:disgust:

What router model?

What is your assigned IP address to the PC?

What is the gateway IP and is it assigned by the router?

Out of curiosity, have you held the reset switch in for about 5 to 10 seconds? Many routers have a delayed reset (or maybe your's really is physically broken).

My IP 65.74.68.179 and gateway is 65.74.64.1. Pretty sure it's assigned by the router. I have tried holding down the reset switch with no luck. Trying out the free utility now....

I selected the Belkin option(my router) under the auto obtain ip option and it only comes up with one number. When I try to open that address in my browser I get a failed to connect error.
(I presume I didn't need to scan 127.0.0.1)

Go to you network connections (double click Network Connections) on the desktop, right click on the Local Area Connection and select properties. Select "Internet Procotol (TCP/IP)" and then click on the "Properties" button.

Select "Use the following IP address" and type:

IP Address: 65.74.64.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 65.74.64.1

<OK>
<OK>

Most likely you'll need to reboot.

After reboot, go to your browser and enter the 65.74.64.1 and see if it works.

Looks like you currently have a subnet mask mismatch that won't let you go to the router.

Didn't work. Couldn't access the network either.

Hmmm...Did you happen to notice the assigned subnet mask from the router?

Hmmm...you could try the following then:

IP Address: 65.74.68.179
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway: 65.74.64.1

Don't you mean 255.255.255.0?
Interestingly enough one of the other computers on my network is now down since that last action even though I changed it back.
You better hope this works or I'm going to sue the pants off you.😀

Alright I'll try both those numbers.

Sorry, I'm out of ideas now. You didn't turn off administration access did you?

Time to crack open the case and short the terminals for the reset buttons! 😀

No, I meant 255.255.0.0. I'm not a subnet man (nor network man), but because your gateway is on a different subnet than your DHCP given IP address, I tried to place them both on the same subnet so your PC could access your router. Maybe I'm doing it wrong...

IP Address: 65.74.68.179
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway: 65.74.64.1

The IP is not a Local IP. This is what it resolves to, 65.74.64.2 2-64-74-65.static.gci.net

This an external IP is assigned to the WAN port of the Router, or a modem by GCI Internet services.

Are you sure that you have a Router?

Auto Obtain in the computer's TCP/IP does not give you choices, it just a check point.

Follow this page may be it would help you, http://www.ezlan.net/debug.html

Am I sure I have a router?
Yes I am sure I have a gci cable modem--->>>wireless router--->>>switch...all on my network.
What I'm not sure of is who's addressing what.
I'll check that link thanks.
Also my other network rigs are still down although I can't imagine why as I reset my settings to what they were at before I started all this.

GOT IT! Something...not sure what...reset my IP. What the heck did it though? I ran the winsock fix but would that be it?
