Can't access files on a hard drive pulled from old system

I bought an enclosure to use with a hard drive that I removed from my old system. I plugged it into a different computer and it recognized it but when I try to access my user folder in Documents and Settings it says access is denied. I didn't have a password on my account in Windows on that computer. Is there any way to get into that folder?

Edit: At one time I did have a password on my account. I remember when you add a password, Windows asks you if you want to keep your files private. Could this have something to do with why I can't access it, even though I later removed the password?

Hi,
You have found 'permissions'.

What you might do is right click the drive,
properties
security
advanced
highlight your username - tick box - apply
ok - wait
right click drive
properties
security
click your name
make sure all the boxes on the 'allow' column are ticked
ok
hey presto.

Thanks a lot, your instructions were spot on. I searched a bit online and I found the Microsoft article for "Taking Ownership." The only thing you were missing is that you have to be in safe mode to get the security tab to show up.

Hi,

Glad it worked.

There is a way to add your name to ownership - but I forgot that bit at the time.
Well done you spotted the deliberate error.
