I can no longer access the bios on my dell dimemsion
when booting

ive tried flashing with same 253 bios
different keyboard
and holding down a bunch of keys

i have acronis startup recovery and that works

only recent change was monitor
any ideas thanks

hi

the bios always worked until recently using del key

f11 for acronis boot recovery and ctrl I for raid utility both still work

i don't have a ps2 socket-is there any point using a usb adapter with ps2 keyboard

probably not i think

Hmm, I've never seen a Dell that used Del as the BIOS key, it's always been F2 to my experience. Also, Dimensions are all fairly old at this point, so I'm having a hard time believing that it only has USB.

OP, can you post a picture of your BIOS startup screen?

a change of monitor can't cause this can it?

If the change involved the possibility of disconnecting or changing a jumper wire inside, or if there is something wrong with the cable, that is a possibility.

Dell always uses F2.

Clear the bios with the motherboard jumper see if that helps.
While you at it take out the coin battery if you can.

Can you post the service tag of your system so that I can look up the specs? The DXP061 and Dimension 9200 (both of which you stated you had) are quite different beasts.
