I'm planning on joining the 21st century and ditching my VHS-C camcorder and picking up a digital camcorder with my birthday money. 😀
The caveats are that it must be under $400 and have analog pass-through so I can use it as a device to transfer VHS tapes to the computer. The Canon ZR600 and ZR700 models are the only ones I've found with this feature for under $400. Furthermore, the only difference between the ZR600 and ZR700 seems to be the lack of a light. That doesn't bother me since the lights that come witih these digicams seem to be simply an LED and not very effective at distances greater than 4 feet anyway.
Does anyone have any experience with the latest Canon digicams (zr500, zr600 or zr700) you'd like to share before I make the purchase?
Can anyone suggest any alternatives for under $400?
Thanks!
