Is $329 a good price for this camcorder. I don't own any type of digital camera and was thinking of getting this as an allinone.

How would the pricematch with Allstar work? Do you purchase from Photoalley at full price, then get them to credit your CC?

recently there have been many cameras that both take stills and record video..
generally digital cameras that also take video clips have low quality video clips and digital camcorders that also take digital still shots have low quality digital stills.. sometimes just a framegrab from video... there arent any all-in-one devices that are really good at both.

Bumpin BooGoo. Bought a Sony dcr-TVR530 (Digital 8) on a major Sears PM w/ 10% off ($550 net) but LOVING the ZR20 for hundreds less and smaller.

Bumpity-bump-BUY. I blame BooGoo. This BETTER work. No Blue here, but other Amex cards work! Whoohoo! Guess I'll return the Sony (it was too darn big). BTW, buy at Ritz camera and get 12 mini-DV tapes free (I have a bag/tripod).

Agree, most don't, the stills from a sony digital camcorder (trv or something) I have seen are very poor. However, for those with the money, Sony has the CDC300 (or something like that) its a 3MP still with MPEG1 motion. Records to a mini CD-RW.

I bought this camera thru one of the Dell 20% off deals a couple of months ago. I have been pleased with it. I'd be more pleased to pay less. It wouldn't record once in september during high humidity and fading isn't always on, these are my only gripes.

Hey, whats this MSN money thing and how can you price garentee with blue if you use msn dollars?

Got one today! Very nice little thing. Have a question: those mini DV tapes are listed at $10+ at those big stores, while there are a lot of Sony and Panasonics running at $4-5 on E*ay. What's the scope here? Are they not created equal? Which are considered to be better? Oh, and thanks for the deal!

From my experience, the panasonic tapes are prone to streaching and digital artifacts. I try to use Fuji DV tapes whenever possible. Sony's are good too, but more expensive.

I have friends that work as Videographers and they refuse to use Panasonic tapes for these reasons. One suggestion that they have is to fast-forward and rewind your tapes before the first use. This will help prevent tape streaching and damage to your footage. It's also a good idea before using a tape that has been sitting in a hot car or on a shelf for a couple of months.

PM to $429 not possible (after rebate). PM to $463 w/ AMEX pending. Will update status. With MSN bonus and $50 Canon rebate, paying a little more than $300. Tough to beat.

I checked it out at BestBuy. Very nice. I just wished Ritz still had the ZR20, since I already have a bag and tripod. :(

I just got on this deal as well. The digital photo feature is not that important to me since I already have my faithful sony cybershot.

hehe i like how the title suggests all u get is a camcorder kit and not the camcorder itself :p lots of people missing a great deal... but i dont even see how u can do this... and whats up with fatcash i have no clue wtf that is ... anyway i just ordered the camera for 699 (ouch!) and do i start pricematching now? i understand i get 150 back in rebates.. i just switched my amex blue from student to normal acct and i ordered the camcorder, so should i pricematch ASAP or wait till i get it... i had it shipped to my dads house in vegas to save on tax... so i pricematch it to which site? if i see another lower price in lets say 2 weeks from now can i pricematch again?

Ok, here's a little clarification. Fatcash is like eb@tes. Fatcash gives out higher percentage. You must go through fatcash and check out with MSN passport. Or you can try the two window trick. Others have reported that they were able to get credit for both ebates & MSN. I tried it on a similar items and was credited both fatcash and MSN rebate. So in theory and proof I was able to get both credits. Your mileage might vary.
