How do you view miniDV on a VCR if possible? Also is the Canon ZR10 any good for $150 with 2 batteries and carrying case?

Don't know anything about them? Also how much are miniDV tapes?
 
Anyone? I need to know asap because I need to buy it today if I'm going to. But I hate to buy it since I don't know nothing about miniDV. So the only way you can record it is with a special PC card with VIVO features or record to a VCR from the camcorder? Which miniDV's should I purchase?
