Every once in a while, I think all DSLRs look like crap, and what I really need is the latest Red Dragon for right at $60k. It really does blow away the current crop and FF DSLRs.

Sure, tell me the easiest way to host/post?^^^ can you show some of your pics?
Here´s a pro tip.
Photography is really about the photographer. The camera is just a tool. I don´t care how awesome the shovel is it´s the ditch digger who does the work.

What resolution?
Wow, this thread has gotten a bit derailed.
The point is that when choosing between 2 options, it is helpful to look at the outside option, not even clearly on the table. So, when looking at Canon Vs. Nikon, I am suggesting, that it is important to look and see what the non DSLR and out of price range options are. Hate to use the phrase game changer, but RED is exactly that. Some pro photographers will move to it. And, DSLR companied will have to keep improving an innovating. Everyone and everything is affected.
Now, as far as amateur shots with cheap cameras. wft? For one, how did that come up? Secondly, the shot you posted looks to be a model, pro make up, and she has been lit if not by a prop, with pro type gear, reflectors, etc..
http://forums.steves-digicams.com/canon-lenses/120154-canon-ef-50mm-f-1-8-ii.htmlYou gotta draw the line somewhere... when you look at cars, do you look at everything under the sun? Like go test drive a Ferrari when your car budget is 30k?
I may have focus issues.Obviously the elephant in the room here is "Post-Processing". The secret ju-ju behind our work that make us the big bucks!
But working with motion images and capturing it one frame, and then blowing it up to a 20"x30" may not yield the same results as taking a still and blowing it up to a 20"x30". But if you're not doing prints, Red all the way!
(P.S. did you look into the magic lantern firmware with the 5D MK 3? also I believe it's available for 60d?) Anyways, raw recording will get you keepers of the stills 🙂
I always find photography to be a "sales" job. The better story you can come up with to your clients, the more likely they'll buy you for the day.
Sorry glen, thought you were trying to get the eye in focus in that shot. Shooting @ f/1.6 is incredibly difficult, especially with candid's. To me, the focus point is the head piece connects with the hair, that seems a bit more in focus than the eye. If this is your intention, then my mistake!
