major changes from t3i
- digic 5
- touch screen (pinch to zoom)
- iso boost up to 25600
- 9 af points (all cross type like 60d)
- continuous AF during video
How can you have simultaneous phase detect and contrast detect autofocus without a translucent mirrror?
ooo that 40mm pancake lens looks enticing. wish it was faster though
Beside the traditional AF sensor, extra phase detect module is built right on the CMOS sensor itself.
40mm, an interesting compromise. Long enough to be normal on FF, short enough to almost be normal on crop. I think I will probably end up with one... the price is certainly right. But f/2.8 is making me have to think about it. If it were even f/2.2, it would be a no-brainer.
Canon doing pancake is great news for all, I do hope they introduce more.
Does it use the CMOS sensor's pixels or are there additional phase detecting pixels in there somewhere?
Scroll down a bit.
All they do is explain what it does. No shit, autofocus autofocuses...
going to guess it works the same way as fuji's
pretty sure the regular AF motors were stepper motors. that these are quiet is the main change.
Interesting... so some pixels are sacrificed (at least half of the pixel) to act as phase detectors
