So is there really a worthy image quality improvement on these newer Rebel's Ti1 up on regular prints over an XTi?

Yes I do realized that the newer infrared control wireless flash is better than the old slave, but there are ways to get around the limitations.

Not the limitation of time, ;). And there is no way to use auto-ISO with flash without using CLS (Nikon's).

external mic?

my video? nah i just used the built-in one (didn't feel like breaking out my condenser lol)

or the 600d? it has a mic port, still :)

and yeah, MF. sometimes i over/under focus, which is why i was hoping for a new zoomed in feature, but guess not....

Canon really needs to step up the xxD line. There's almost no incentive to them besides the metal body. Meanwhile the plastic toys are getting all the "toys." Guess they are selling like hotcakes though.

much better viewfinder, extra wheel and generally better handling for about $150 more isn't too bad.

60D doesn't have a metal body. metal chassis, though (which is an improvement from the plastic rebel line).

If you feel that you can use the swiveling screen in shots, why not? I mean, its coming out for $799 (body only) which was the same price as the T2i, so its like a 'free' upgrade if you waited.

Kinda feels weird though, when the 60D came out (with MSRP $1199), and got terrible reviews after, street value/hot deals went down to as low as ~$950 for body only... wonder how this will position itself when the T3i hits market pricing

Amazon search shown $170 spread between the T3i & 60D with 18~135mm IS lens.

The different in price could get you a bag & filter or 270EX flash & filter. Or, 3/5 of the 430EX II flash.

I wouldn't mind getting one for $850. I want that extra wheel.

so what's the verdict?

is the swivel screen really helpful for shooting pics, or just the occasional video?
Would be great for video and shooting macro at ground level. The advantage of top view that I love from using Medium format cameras.

I can't say I've seen anyone give the 60D a "terrible review". I've seen people complain about the change in the body from all magnesium allow to partial metal, but all other aspects seemed fine. Can you point me to these terrible reviews?

As for the price, the price came down due to competition to place it where it should be relative to the D7000. Makes sense to me.

I'm not saying "terrible" as in under-performing, but "terrible" at the price point ($1199 MSRP). A lot of people don't think that the 60D is the true successor to the 50D, since it kinda 'stepped down' in the body dept.

But THIS is what I'm talking about!!! ->
- http://www.amazon.com/Canon-60D-Digi...dp/B0040JHVCC/

In case the URL gets mangled, Amazon has the 60D body for $899.
$899. NO TAX IN CA. T2i was $899 kit. T3i kit is $899. I mean, what now??? WHERE'S MY WALLET?? HIDE MEEEEE

BHphoto has it for that price and Adorama is only $10 more.

BHphoto has it for that price and Adorama is only $10 more.

So the current market value on a $1199 MSRP 60D body is $900.
This just gives more choices for the consumer, I guess.
Adorama also has the T2i body for $700, and they will carry the T3i body @ $800. Is each subsequent +$100 justified in the cost?

Depends on the buyer and their needs. The T1i body is $550 and that would be plenty of camera for many people.

On the 5D the output to an external monitor pushes out a low res image for video... the 7d pushes out a 1080 image... this would make the focus pullers job a ton easier... does anyone know if the t3 supplies a 1080 image or the 5d quality one to an external monitor?? I was buying a 7d before the earthquake happened,, and now that the prices have gone up I am looking into the T3 to save some money.. I really don't see any difference in the two cameras...
thoughts anyone????
thanks in advance for any thoughts on this...

Does the T3i have the same sensor as the T2i or the 60D? I'm wondering if there'll be any IQ improvement with the T3i compared to last year's models. I'm thinking about ditching the XSi

I thought the T2i/T3i/60D all have the DigicIV processor? The 7D has dual DigicIV processors hence why it's so speedy.
