I got the IFC-200C usb cable in the box and was wondering why it is different from the standard usb cable. Anybody knows why? I lost my original usb cable and now I'm using a standard usb cable without any problems but cant figure out why the original cable has those two cylinder look alike moulds near the pins.

Anybody knows why?

Original Canon USB cable :

Standard USB cable :

Thanks in advance

Those are ferrite chokes. They work to reduce noise on the cable. However, they really aren't generally necessary. The Canon USB cable is no different than a standard USB cable. You can see a general USB cable with one here:

It doesn't make any difference to the performance is it? Bloody hell Canon sells it for $28 and that is the lowest I could find on the web. If Monoprice is selling the same for like $2.55 thats like a freaking 1300% markup on the original cost!

Not unless you have an extremely noisy environment no. This is standard practice in the accessory/cables business. Look at Monster Cable's markups or some "elite" audiophile cable markups and then you'll see true robbery.

Monoprice is my favorite online story, period. Their only drawback is shipping, but if you're ordering enough cables, the savings more than make up for the high base cost of shipping (like $6, then a few pennies more as the size/weight of your order increases).

Replaced all the Cat-5 cable (some wasn't even Cat-5e) in my house with Cat-6, got a bunch of iPod cables, a few USB cables for various things, a few HDMI cables, and a couple other random items for about the cost of 2-3 Monster HDMI cables.
