Canon SX100IS

I'm looking to replace my Canon SD100 (yeah, old school) and I don't want to spend more than $250, so I was looking at the new Canon SX100IS. I can't find too many reviews on this camera so that's why I'm asking the experts about it. Lowest price I found was $239 at Amazon. What do you guys think? I don't care about the lack of a viewfinder, never used the one on my current model. I love the zoom and large lens.

That is a good camera. Its based on the S5IS/S3IS. It does not have the EVF (the view finder) but rather uses the screen instead. Its got the same image stablization that the S3/S5 have.

its a good camera, i recommend it. Its picture quality is good. Though it suffers the same problem with the S5, that is on the higher ISO's the noise goes up, but thats because they didnt change the size of the sensor from the S3, they just increased the mega pixels. However its a far cry from your SD100.

So go for it! I recommend it.

I like it so far, it's a huge improvement over my old Canon. I don't know how to use the manual settings yet so I'll be looking through the manual today. These photos were all taken with the Auto setting:

i know what you mean by don't know how to use manual settings, but the ergonomics of doing so are very very good. i picked one up in beast buy the other day and had all the camera settings figured out within about half a minute. that little wheel on the back works ridiculously well. best controls on a compact ever.

I am thinking of buying one tomorrow at a Circuit City store with $40 off coupon. Google "Circuit City $40 of $199.99". Not sure of in store price, but will get them to price match CC online price of $259.99 and use coupon to bring it down to $219.99 which seems to be a good price.
