i just noticed that when i use the zoom on my canon sd300, it makes a zzz zzz kinda clack (not referring to the regular hum.. but right after the camera is done moving its lens..

does anybody else have this? i'm trying to figure out if it might be a defect on my camera or maybe soemthing in general with canons or the sd300, etc..

thanks for the feedback guys,

i am very interested in this camera (replacement for my broken casio ex-z40)

oh and if people with SD200, 400, and 500 could post too . . . that'd be great

it makes the noise right after it is done focusing.. so u got the humm while ur adjusting the zoom..and then right after.. it kinda goes zzztt zztt almost like those old (dot matrix?) printers..

the camera itself is great.. plenty of options, the size is quite nice (about the size of a credit card literally, maybe just a half cm smaller or so), thickness is about a deck of cards... it feels very sturdy, the lcd is also nice too..

i sell the camera all day at best buy and the noise is nothing new, all the cameras have it, its no big deal

awesome camera though, best quality small camera you can buy...recommend the sd300 over the 200 for the extra megapixel

The SD400 isn't really worth the expense. The extra megapixel adds more noise (visual noise) to the images. If you plan on printing your images at 8x10 or less, the SD300 is definitely enough.

Look at the reviews at dpreview.com and stevesdigicams.com.

got the SD300 today in the mail ... yeah there's a noise, but that's just the camera adjusting ...

i'd rather have the noise than a bad picture

great camera! 😀
