Why would you need 60fps? 30fps should be fine. Movies are only 24, i think.

Well it says that 60FPS is for quick movement and action shots. But seriously it's so nice!

60FPS at 320x240? I'll pass. I'd much rather have 30FPS at 640x480.

60fps is cool, but its restricted to 320x240. I perfer 30fps @ 640x480.

Anubis, when I was looking for a camera, I specifically looked at each camera's video capabilities. Why? Because I wanted a Digital Camera for still shots, and a Video camera for movies, but I didn't want to pay for both or have to carry 2 things with me all the time. The SD300 is no Digital SLR, but it does a great job for casual shots, and does a great job for those videos. It is small enough to stick in my pocket to take anywhere I want. The best of both worlds :).

Passions, you don't get the purple fringing with your SD300 that everyone talks about (w/ SD300/400/500)?

Yeah, I saw the S2 IS, but it doesn't really interest me much. The higher MP count would be nice, as would the slightly higher optical zoom length, but the fact that it uses SD memory is a major  for me. I have a 5GB Microdrive (CF Type II) that I use in my S1 IS, and I'm not giving that up. :D

I don't know why they felt the need to switch to SD for a non-compact camera anyway.

I take a lot of pictures at the zoo. Sometimes animals do things that you just can't easily convey through photography. Movie mode is handy for that.

QFT.

I carry my SD20 everywhere. It's nice knowing when something funny happens (and believe me it does! lol) I can get video of it. Ship happens! :p

I am in the market for a nice 16x9 camcorder (true 16x9 no stretching) HD a plus.

Don't forget the SD200 does it all too. Personally I think the clarity on the 640x480 movie mode is sick!

Because the SD300 fits in the palm of your hand and fits in your pocket too, genious. Because digicam movie mode is great for short ownage clips.

Agreed.
Although it's only 320x240, it playsback beautifully on the 2" LCD.
Just watch it on that instead of on your computer.

Canon SD series > * other small format digicams. The build quality, size, and picture quality are superb. You really get what you pay for.

yea, i saw those before i got mine actually... but after years and years of reading about cameras, i've just come to accept that we're not going to see any sub-compacts with perfect imaging for a while.
