Canon SD200 missing shutter button

Recently, my shutter button fell off my SD200 and disappeared. I wrote their support and they told me to call their parts warehouse.

The parts warehouse said that they don't sell the button, just an assembly of the top half of the camera that would cost over $40 and would need to be professionally installed (would have to remove whole frame to install it).

When I wrote them back about the answer I got, support said I could try FedExing it to their warrenty service, but that it would not be eligable unless it was defective. I doubt they'll admit that a shutter button falling off was defective, so that would more than likely result in me spending shipping charges (both ways) plus some other fees to get it fixed. This seems like a crapload of work and money just to pop on a new shutter button.

Any ideas? I could really use the help.

If they sell just the top half of the camera, the likelihood is that the repair service only have access to that part, not just the button.

Looks like you're going on eBay 🙂
