Canon sd200 charger question

Something went wrong with my charger or battery; I don't know which yet. I barely got the camera and I'm not familiar with the lights on the charger. Is the orange light on the charger suppose to remain orange even with no battery in there?

My charger acted weird after the second charge. It would stay orange even with no battery in there and it wouldn't charge the battery. Next day the charger stopped working completely. Like I said, I don't know what is messed up, the battery or the charger.

I'll be calling Canon to have it replaced but I need the camera very soon. Does anyone know any loocal places in San Diego that might carry a generic charger?

Thanks!

ebay always has generic chargers. i don't know if you're willing to wait, but if so, that's a good direction to take. you should also purchase some spare batteries. again, ebay is a good place for those, even if they're generic. i got a set of two batteries for my powershot s500 for about $4.99 and while the batteries aren't as powerful as the original one that came with my s500, they're pretty reliable.

So the LED idicator should not be orange when no battery is in there right? This is odd, I wonder what caused it to crap out so soon.

assuming your charger is the same as mine, there should be no light on when there is no battery in the bay.
